How a Wisdom Tooth Extraction Works
For all of our patients who still have their wisdom teeth, we’ll keep a close eye on them whenever they come to see us for a checkup. If a patient starts to experience any problems associated with these teeth, or if we believe they are about to cause issues, we can schedule an appointment for their removal.
Most of the time, wisdom teeth call for a surgical extraction. This means the teeth haven’t fully erupted and are still partially enclosed within the gum line and jawbone. After numbing a patient, we’ll remove any tissue that is covering the teeth before actually extracting them. Most patients experience a little soreness afterward, but they are able to resume their normal diet and daily routine in less than a week.
